Adapting the CJ7's to meet the FA changes

Big changes on the way.

The FA changes to youth football are to be ratified in May 2012 and the Committee of the Chiltern Junior 7's have developed a four year plan to adapt the league to these changes.

Youth football will become non-competitive until the under 12 age group, with no league tables or knock out cups allowed for all age groups younger than under 12.

Compulsory maximum formats will mean 11 a side football will not be allowed until the under 13 age group.

A change to calendar year age groups has not yet be confirmed and is still under discussion at The FA.

The Chiltern Junior 7's four year plan is as follows:

  • Season 2012 -13
    Introduce an Under 7 section playing a 5 v 5 format
Introduce an Under 12 section playing a 9 or 11 a side format
Change the format of the Girls Under 10's to 5 v 5 to help Clubs develop teams gradually
    Change the Boys / Mixed Under 11 & Girls Under 13 age groups to 9 v 9

  • Season 2013-14
Change the format of the Under 8 section to 5 v 5
    Under 9 section becomes non-competitive - MANDATORY
    Change the Boys / Mixed Under 12 & Girls Under 14 age groups to 9 v 9
Age group change to calendar year may begin at Under 7 and move up an age group each season (it is still to be decided by The FA whether this will come into effect, but as age group rules are governed by The FA we will have to go with whatever ruling is decided upon)

  • Season 2014-15
Under 10 section becomes non- competitive - MANDATORY
Under 10 Girls section becomes non- competitive - MANDATORY

  • Season 2015-16
Under 11 section becomes non- competitive - MANDATORY
Under 11 Girls section becomes non- competitive - MANDATORY
